About J.D.

James (or “J.D.”) is senior vice president, crisis management at Ketchum, where he has helped to manage reputation for more than 50 of the world’s most respected companies and brands.

James is also a communications coach, offering insights on the three core elements of persuasive communications: preparing a strong story, “projecting” that story and maintaining control over the agenda of any media interview or conversation.

James likes to help students consider a career in crisis management as a guest lecturer at UNC Charlotte and Boston University, among others.

James lives in Charlotte with his wife, son, daughter and hyperactive chocolate Labrador.  Recent achievements include playing 100 golf holes in one day — twice and counting! — to raise funds and awareness of domestic abuse on behalf of Safe Alliance.

Motto: “If you play golf, you’re my friend.”
